I have wanted to create some kind of industrial lighting for a while now but to be honest for a long time I didn’t know anything about electrical. I watched many tutorials and in each one they mentioned how easy it was to create a light fixture or lamp. I didn’t believe them because no matter how much I read I could not grasp the concept until I actually tried it hands on. And I promise it really is EASY and AFFORDABLE! I will show you how I made this copper industrial lighting for less than $20
To make this light you will need...
- Copper spray paint ( black or silver will look cool too)
- 1/2” PVC pipe cut to the following lengths
- 2@22”
- 1@9”
- 3@2”
- PVC connections
- 2- -T connections
- 1 elbow
- 2- -Threaded male adapters
- Light bulb ( not included in the cost but you probably have a light bulb on hand)
- Light kit ( I got mine for less than $5
- Flanges ( I recommend getting these online. They are much more expensive in store)
- 2 - 1/2” flanges
- Saw or PVC cutters - you can get a basic hand saw at most dollar stores or a PVC cutter for less than $10 at a hardware store.
Assembly
Step ☝🏽
First, connect the 22” pieces of pipe to each other using the T connector creating a 44” tube

Step 2
attach the 9” piece to the 2” piece using the elbow.

Step 3
Next connect the 9” piece to the 44” tube that you made earlier using the other T connection. Now you should have something that resembles an L shape or a weird candy cane.

Step 4
The two T connectors should now be open on the back of your “candy cane”. You will attach the remaining 2” pieces and the threaded male adapters to those openings

Step 5
Finally you will attach the threaded adapters to the flanges and spray paint the PVC to whatever color you want.

Wiring your industrial lighting
Once you have the body of the lamp assembled then you will want to begin the wire the lamp.
Most light kits will come assembled and you will need to disconnect the bulb socket from the cord in order to feed it through the pipe. I have a full video on my YouTube channel on how to take apart and assemble light kits to make other industrial lighting. Take a look at the video below to see exactly how it’s done.
Feed the wire through the pvc pipe then reconnect it to the bulb socket. And you will have the finished product. Plug it in and test it out.
