faux concrete Easter bunny

I made this craft using mostly dollar tree items. The dollar tree sells a pack of 5 wooden bunny ornaments. These ornaments are the main base for my project. When I first saw these ornaments, I knew that I wanted to create a mini concrete bunny. I just didn’t know how I would do it. At first I thought I would actually apply a layer of concrete but after I created my faux concrete planters I knew that I wanted to try the same technique on these rabbits. The project truly evolved as I created it. But hey that’s how true artistry works I guess. I am really proud of the final result. To make these I used Pack of wooden bunnies joint compound wood glue Wood clamps (optional) foam board Floral moss Hot glue and glue gun Scrap wood (optional) My first step was to glue the wooden bunny ornaments together. I did this by sandwiching the wood glue between the bunnies. This is so that I can form a more 3-dimensional bunny. The more wooden ornaments that you glue together the bigger the bunny. Once

Neutral Easter topiary in concrete planter ( part 2)

When I finished creating my faux concrete planters in my previous post I couldn’t wait to put something inside of them. In the true spirit of Easter I wanted to do an Easter topiary. I’m going to walk you guys through how I made this really simple neutral Easter topiary. You will need..... 1. a planter ( I used my faux concrete planters that I created in my last post.) 2. Foam eggs ( I painted mine white and added texture ) 3. Floral foam 4. Skewer 5. Spanish moss from the dollar tree 6. Florals/greenery Step ☝🏽 First I cut the floral foam down to fit into my pot. Step 2. Next I covered the foam with a layer of Spanish moss Step 3 I arranged the eggs onto the skewer in a fun pattern. Then I inserted the skewer into the pot. Step 4 Add florals/greenery to fill the rest of the pot. That’s it. I was short on time this week so I really whipped these up within 10 minutes. I still really love the way they turned out and I still thought it was worth sharing for those of you that just want to

DIY faux concrete planter part 1

Concrete is a definite trend this year. Really concrete never goes out of style. I made these faux concrete planters with just some paint and some terra cotta pots that I got 2 for $1 at the dollar store. I started to paint them white and then I had a lightbulb moment and remembered how obsessed I have been lately with concrete planters. The beautiful thing is that because of the naturally dry texture of terra cotta, these pots not only look like concrete but they have a realistic texture as well. Here is what you will need to make these gorgeous faux concrete planters. 1. Terra cotta pots 2. Foam brush, paint brush 3. Acrylic paint in different shades of gray. ( I used slate gray, black, white, Amish gray, smoke because that’s what I had already but a simple dark gray and white may create the same look ) Step 1 Concrete is never one solid color. That’s why I chose to blend different shades of gray with black and white. I first started by covering the planter with the darkest color as

DIY Easter egg garland

As soon as the Easter decor hit the shelves in the stores I had to go out to get some inspiration. I came across some Easter egg garland and instantly wanted to make my own version of it using only dollar store items. I’m going to show you guys how I made my egg garland 2 ways. The first method I used to make this requires some drilling. If you don’t own power tools or know anyone who does then check out the second method. Here is what you will need for the first method. 1. Hot glue gun and glue 2. Speckled eggs from the dollar store 3. twine 4. Drill 5. Tape 6. Skewers or toothpicks. Step ☝🏽 You will want to drill a hole into the top and bottom of your eggs. You only need a small hole but you want to make sure that it is large enough that you will be able to stick the skewer through the egg. Step 2 Cut a piece of twine to your desired length. I cut mine at about 4 ft. Step 3. Once you have drilled holes into all of the eggs, you are ready to start stringing them onto the twine. To ma
