Easter Garden Centerpiece

Easter is getting closer. I have been plotting and planning to make this Easter garden craft for months now. I have been planning for this since I first spotted bunnies in my local thrift store. When I first thought about doing this project I wanted to make this garden centerpiece in one of those really cute bread bowls that are incredibly popular right now. However, when I visited my local thrift store in search of some bread bowls I actually found something even better. My house is modern farmhouse decor so when I saw these vintage style dishes I knew they would be perfect.

Here is what you need for this project

1. A dish/bowl/basket of your choice

2. A small-medium sized bunny painted in the color of your choice

3. Florals ( I got mine from the dollar store

4. Foam board or foam squares

5. 2 bags of Moss balls, 1 floral moss, 1 reindeer moss and 1 Spanish moss all from the dollar store.

6. Faux grapes and paint

7. Glue gun and glue

I made this two ways because I had 2 dishes and plenty of florals. So I will start with this silver dish

First, I wanted my garden to sit more towards the top of the dish so I needed to elevate my base. If you are working with something more shallow like a bread bowl or a large plate then you can skip this step. to elevate the base I first placed moss balls in the bottom.

Then I traced the shape of the dish onto foam board and cut out the circle. I glued the foam board onto the moss and cut out that middle pedestal type section because that’s where I wanted my bunny to sit

Next I started to cover the entire base with floral moss using the same method I used in my moss bunny tutorial. I also added some moss balls in a few places to add interest and height variations.

Next you can add some florals. Be creative and just place the florals where you feel they fit. Lay everything out first and when you feel you have it the way that you want then secure everything with hot glue.

Now remember those grapes 🍇. I got mine from the thrift store but you can find faux fruit sometimes at the dollar store and craft stores. I painted the grapes and then plucked them from the stem. These will be our eggs.

Now find the placement of your eggs and glue them down. That’s it! We are done. I loved how this turned out. It was exactly how I imagined. I can’t wait to decorate with these.

I used more of a variety of moss with the second centerpiece. When I bought this dish it was brown. I spray painted it white.

First thing I did was elevate the base again. This time I used foam board cut into the oval shape and a foam block underneath

I didn’t cut a perfect oval shape so I had some gaps on the sides. I used moss balls to fill those gaps and to add height and interest.

Then I covered the base with the different types of moss. I used the Spanish moss to make small nests for my eggs. The lighter green is the reindeer moss sprinkled in for texture.

Next. Add florals.

Finally my eggs and my bunny.

Here is the finished project. If you are using this as a centerpiece you can stage it with some larger eggs and florals on a pretty spring table runner.

Trash to treasure | dog house makeover on a budget

Back in March right when the world as we know it turned upside down my neighbor threw out an old play house. It was set for the trash. I have had plans to build a dog house for my three dogs ever since I moved into my home 2 years ago. The playhouse was the perfect foundation for a dog house and I had a vision for it. My neighbor was nice enough to let me have the playhouse and to help get it into my yard. I had just received news from my job that we would be out for a 14 day quarantine. And I thought this dog house makeover would be the perfect project to keep me busy. Little did I know my employer would soon change their mind but I still put all my energy into this project on the evenings and weekends for about 3 months. But it was all worth it because now I have a luxury dog house and it cost me less than $100 to make!!! in this post I will walk you through exactly how i made over this dog house on a budget. Before The YouTube video for this project is now live so if you are reading...
