How to: DIY luxury Easter bunny decor for less than $15

Easter is so close yet so far away. However, I have already got bunnies on the brain. Last year I realized that I didn’t have any Easter decorations and at the last minute I just picked up random things from the dollar store. This year I was determined to get a head start on Easter so that I could make all my decorations myself while also keeping it classy. so I found some sad bunnies at the thrift store and gave them new life. I knew I wanted to do something with them. I paid less than $10 for the three bunnies below. The tallest bunny is about 12” for reference.

Ok so here’s how you do it.

Step one ☝🏽

Find some really sad looking Easter bunnies at your local thrift store.

Step 2

Give the Easter bunnies a really good cleaning. I used Dawn dish soap and water because the Easter bunnies that I found were ceramic.

Step 3

Next you want to get the spray paint of your choice and spray them. The spray paint cost me $4 but I know there are places that sell cheaper spray paint. If you want to make fancy bunnies like I did, I recommend using either silver or gold spray paint but really you can paint them whatever color you want. I used primer first but most spray paints come as paint and primer in one. Then you are done. You can add ribbon to them like I did if you have ribbon on hand or leave them plain.

Alternatives

I wanted to offer some other options for people who don’t have spray paint and don’t want to buy it or for people who are against using spray paint for any reason. The items can be hand painted if that’s all that you have or if you prefer to paint the objects by hand. If you’re going to hand paint the objects, the objects will need to primed or the surfaces roughed before painting. Some options for preparing the surface for hand-painting include using steel wool or sandpaper. For porous surfaces you can simply rub down the objects with acetone a.k.a. nail polish remover.

Trash to treasure | dog house makeover on a budget

I have had plans to build a dog house for my three dogs ever since I moved into my home 2 years ago. The playhouse was the perfect foundation for a dog house and I had a vision for it. My neighbor was nice enough to let me have the playhouse and to help get it into my yard. I had just received news from my job that we would be out for a 14 day quarantine. And I thought this dog house makeover would be the perfect project to keep me busy. Little did I know my employer would soon change their mind but I still put all my energy into this project on the evenings and weekends for about 3 months. But it was all worth it because now I have a luxury dog house and it cost me less than $100 to make!!! in this post I will walk you through exactly how i made over this dog house on a budget.
